About
Farzad Khabiri was born in Tehran, Iran in 1957. At age 7, his family moved to Thailand, where his father worked for ECAFE, a United Nations agency. Two years later, upon returning to Iran, Farzad initially attended the Community School and then transferred to the newly-established Iranzamin Tehran International School. He stayed at Iranzamin through middle and high school.
After graduating high school, Farzad went to Boston in 1975 to study at Tufts University where he received a BS and MS in Civil Engineering. He also has an MS in Agricultural Engineering from Cal Poly in Pomona and an ABD in Construction Management from Northeastern University in Boston.
During his 30+ year career Farzad was involved with many construciton projects in various capacities, both in Boston and the San Francisco Bay Area where he managed over $1.5 billion in commercial, institutional and residential projects. Since retiring in 2016, Farzad has been spending most of his time on his real passions of photography, travel and Persian poetry.
"When I was 7 my father bought me my first camera, a small Canon which I absolutely loved. I have been taking photographs on and off ever since. My interest in travel was also kindled at a young age when we went on a number of road trips across Europe and the US with my family. It is an honor to observe and photograph people of different backgrounds and to learn from them."
Throughout his life, Farzad's family has devoted time and resources to charitable work, helping the disadvantaged and those in need. He continues to make this a personal priority, donating all the proceeds from sales on farzadpics.com to non-profits and other philanthropic causes.
Farzad is married with two daughters and is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
